2019 will see the return of The Somervale Ladies Rounder’s League for its 36th year.
Based in Somerset, the league is one of the largest leagues in England with over 300 members.
The season runs from the beginning of May until mid August with matches taking place every Wednesday evening, while the league also runs a knockout cup/plate competition throughout the campaign with these fixtures taking place on Monday evenings. In addition to this, there is also a separate ladies tournament during a weekend in July.
Although primarily a women’s league, the men are not excluded. We have some very knowledgeable male umpires, committee members, trainers & supporters, and a mixed tournament is held in August at Tor Leisure Centre.
The 2018 season was over far too soon and a party celebrating the end of the season and presenting the awards was held in October. Over 20 awards were handed out, with awards not only to division winners and runners up but best sporting team and umpire are also recognised along with cup and plate winners and many other awards, so there is plenty to play for.
Of course none of this would be achievable without the tireless efforts of the committee, made up of players, umpires and supporters. Our thanks go to them as well as all the support from the captains and umpires of our teams.
